The drive belt also referred to as a serpentine or accessory belt drives engine accessories. These accessories include the alternator, power steering, and a/c compressor. Over time the belt can begin to stretch and crack. This leads to a noisy belt and eventually the belt will break leaving the car inoperable. Replace a drive belt at the first signs of wear.
