The fins along with symmetrical drilling points allow the hot oil flowing through the oil filter to transfer a small amount of heat. Maintaining the intended viscosity (Oil's weight) is extremely important for optimum oil performance. Therefore it is important to use every resource available to ensure that thermal breakdown is avoided at all costs. Proper oil temperature will allow your engine to run smoothly and as intended.
